Distributors

  • Who can become a Lumina distributor?

  • We only want to purchase one SKU; can I do that?

Lumina is produced using a whole-carcass model, which means each animal yields a range of cuts that must all be utilised to maintain quality, sustainability, and fair pricing. We work closely with our distributor partners to build product mixes that suit customer needs while supporting whole-carcass utilisation. If you have specific requirements, we’re happy to discuss options within a broader SKU mix.

  • Where can I find product range and specifications?

Farmers

  • What is Headwaters?

Headwaters is both the name of the sheep breed and the business that develops and supplies its genetics. Headwaters sheep are the exclusive breed used to produce Lumina lamb.

  • I want to become a Lumina Farmer, how do I do this?

Producing Lumina lamb starts with Headwaters genetics, as all Lumina lamb must be sired by Headwaters rams. Farmers can breed Lumina lamb themselves by purchasing Headwaters rams, finish Lumina lamb bred by another farmer, or do both depending on their land type and farming system. To get started, speak with the team at Headwaters!

  • Do I need special certification to become a Lumina lamb supplier?

NZFAP+ Gold certification is required for Headwaters farmers supplying Lumina lamb. Farmers are expected and supported by the Headwaters team to achieve NZFAP+ Gold certification within 12 months of joining the Lumina programme.

  • Can anyone become a Headwaters/Lumina farmer?

Yes, farmers interested in producing Lumina lamb are encouraged to get in touch with the Headwaters team. However, the number of Headwaters rams available each year is limited and aligned with Lumina market demand. As a result, farmer participation in the programme grows carefully to ensure the right genetics, farming practices, and supply are in place to consistently deliver Lumina lamb.
